SACP Eastern Cape Provincial Council Statement
"Working class unity and leadership now"
Tuesday, 16 September 2014
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape held a successful provincial council on 13th September 2014 at Skenjana Roji Hall in Bhisho under the theme "Working class unity and leadership now".The council was held as part of preparations for the coming SACP Eastern Cape 7th Provincial Congress which will be held on the 24th to 26th September 2014.
The Council received and discussed extensively the Political, Organisational and Financial reports as it assessed the work of the party in the province. The Council received inputs from our Central Committee delivered by Comrade Buti Manamela, who is also the National Secretary of SACPs Young Communist League. The council also received messages of support from our allies, the African National Congress (ANC), Congress of Trade Unions (COSATU) and South African Civic Organisation (SANCO).
SACP 7th Provincial Congress:
We will be convening our 7th Provincial Congress committed to build the SACP and its capacity to develop policies across a wide range of economic and social activities, including radical economic transformation, education, health and youth for the intensification of mobilisation for a socialist South Africa.
Our Provincial Congress should not be viewed as an event but a culmination of a process aimed strengthening the party and building elements and capacity for socialism with and for the workers and the poor. The organisation remains a dialectical combination of theory and practice. We are indeed happy that our party has almost doubled its membership since the 6th Provincial Congress held in 2011. We have also grown immensely in influence.
We will be convening our 7th Provincial Congress as a united and coherent force on both policy and leadership. We closed the council in high spirit characterised by robust and frank discussions.
Forward to the SACP 7th Provincial Congress!
Issued by SACP Eastern Cape.
