Numsa message of support to the South African Communist Party Special Congress

Dear Comrade General Secretary and fellow Communists

8 December 2009

Metalworkers in the South African economy is entirely convinced that the misery imposed on the working class in our country and the world over is as a result of capitalism that is a barbaric system inherent with crises and a system that produces and reproduces inequality, poverty, hunger, disease and feast on corruption as it daily supplement.

We are confident that delegates from the length and breadth of our republic would take the South African Communist Party to higher levels and in that process of advancing the socialist struggle in the context of a Radical National Democratic Revolution, defeat the forces of reaction.

It is opportune that your Special Congress takes place in Polokwane where we collectively defeated the 1996 Class Project. Your Congress can therefore not end its business in Polokwane without laying the basis for a decisive blow to the remnants of the 1996 Class Project and forces within the national liberation movement who like pariahs and vultures seeks to devour and feed on the democratic state

As you are aware NUMSA took on the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) under the stewardship to Tito Mboweni to demand for an aggressive lowering of the interest. The December 2009 Numsa Central Committee mandated the Numsa NOB to pursue the struggle for monetary and fiscal policy changes and the nationalisation of the South African Reserve Bank. We invite the SACP to be side by side with us as we confront the logic of neo-liberalism that has guided the Reserve Bank and to drive the Reserve Bank to honour the November 2009 Alliance Summit resolution to change the mandate of the SARB so that the developmental agenda of the ANC led government can create the necessary jobs that we so desperately need.

Let us all unashamedly declare that Socialism in the Republic of South Africa is the only possibility and alternative to the crises ridden system of Capitalism. In this regard Numsa in word and deed can be trusted as a dependable ally to the SACP who as our vanguard should pursue this historical mission so consistently advanced by Marx, Lenin and many other great Communists that have gone before.

We are confident that you shall emerge with resolutions to lead society in general but the working class in particular as we search ever forward to build working class power in the workplace, in the community, in the state, in the economy, internationally and ideologically.

Communist Regards

NUMSA National Office Bearers on behalf of our Central Committee
