Gauteng Provinces Launches Red October Campaign

The Gauteng province has the most arable agricultural land in South Africa, about 330 000 ha. Of this about 130 000 ha, which is currently used for agriculture, is mainly in white hands.
On Sunday the 24th October the Gauteng Province of the South African Communist Party (SACP) will launch its Red October Campaign, in the farming area of Tarlton, outside of Mogale City (Krugersdorp, in the West Rand). The launch will be at the Nelson Mandela Community Hall in Tarlton and commences at 9am till 11 am.
This launch would announce on the Provincial Land and Agricultural Summit agreed to with the Provincial MEC for Agriculture, Conservation and Environmental Affairs and will also provide an opportunity for farm workers and landless people to raise their concerns and problems regarding land with the SACP. The mayor of Mogale City will also be invited to attend and address the meeting.
Similar meetings with farm workers and the landless have been happening and will continue to happen across the province up until the end of November.
All meetings in the province with farm workers and landless people are also part of the build up to the national march to be held in Pretoria on November 6th to Agriculture South Africa.
