Swaziland Solidarity Network [SSN] salutes SACP 28 July 2011

The Swaziland Solidarity Network [SSN] salutes its closest affiliate and founder member, the South African Communist Party [SACP] in its commemoration of 90 years of existence since July 31 1921. The celebrations for the commemoration of this historic day will be held in Durban this coming weekend.

As a political party that has withstood the test of time and continues to fight for a socialist society long after the fall of the Eastern bloc and the "spectre" of communism in Europe, we are extremely proud to be associated with this revolutionary party.

The South African communist party was at the heart of the fight against apartheid in South Africa and even today plays a significant role in addressing the inequalities that exist in South Africa as a result of the immoral apartheid system. As an internationalist organisation it has never turned a blind eye to the equally immoral feudal system parading itself as Tinkhundla in Swaziland.

We wish to therefore take the opportunity to thank the SACP for its valuable contribution to the struggle for democracy in Swaziland. This contribution remains unsurpassed. The party has sacrificed the blood of its own members in the form of the late Jack Govender and up till today one of its own sons languishes in king Mswati’s dungeons.

It is in moments of need that we find out who our most sincere friends are. We wish the SACP success in it quest to end economic injustice in South Africa, and we urge Swazis to speed up their fight against Tinkhundla knowing that they will one day have to join in the international fight for a more humane global society.
