Cuban Communist Party/ Central Committee

Havana, July 20th 2011

Comrade Blade Nzimande General Secretary of the South African Communist Party

On behalf of the Cuban Communist Party (PCC) and the people of Cuba we convey to the South African Communist Party a fraternal greeting in the occasion of the 90th Anniversary of it foundation.

We feel a deep respect and admiration for the outstanding role developed by the South African communists during nine decades. The fight against the opprobrious racial regime of apartheid was an important moment of the history of the brother country. The SACP in closely alliance with the anti racial forces led by the African National Congress developed a significant role in the mass mobilization. Today, the communists are part of the progressive forces block working intensively to blot out from the new South Africa the negative heritage of Apartheid.

The celebration of the 90th Anniversary of the SACP is also a moment to pay tribute to the combatants, to the martyrs and leaders of the same size of Moses Kotane, Joe Slovo and Chris Hani, whose ideas about unity and about the construction of socialism as the final goal for the South African Communists is still an endless caudal of ideological reference for the grew up of the new generations.

In a so significant gate like this, we recognize the permanent demonstration of militant solidarity with the Cuban people expressed in the rejection of the criminal economic, commercial and finance blockade imposed by the successive administrations of the United States of America, for more than 50 years, to the people of Cuba and in the fight for the freedom of the Cuban Five unjustly in prison in North American jails, with the only charge of facing terrorism. We also take advantage of this moment to ratify our decision to continue strengthening the bonds between the Cuban Communist Party and the South African Communist Party, to our two brother peoples and specially wish you success in the hard task of building a more just and fair society in the new South Africa.

Long Live the South African Communist Party!
