14 June 2003
At 19h30 today (London time), The General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Blade Nzimande will be the keynote speaker at an International Solidarity Rally in London.
This rally is part of the Communist University for Workers and Students being hosted by the University of London Union in London from 13 to 15 June. The University is held under the theme of “Question Everything”.
Nzimande will also hold discussions on forging closer communist with representatives of the British, Sudanese, India, Greek, Iraqi and Irish Communist Parties who are also guests at the Communist University.
The website of the Communist Party of Britain (www.communist-party.org.uk) introduces the Communist University as follows “The twin features of politics today are imperialist aggression and capitalist globalisation joined with an unparalleled movement of resistance and revolt. Blair and Brown share with Bush and Cheney both infamy and responsibility for the new global politics of privatisation and imperialist plunder. And in opposition to this has grown an anti-war and anti capitalist movement of global proportions. A new generation of young workers and students is looking for answers to questions that the new century has set anew. And older generations of working class activists and socialists are finding new roots for the revolutionary optimism. It is for them that the Communist University has been refounded.”
Nzimande will also pay a courtesy visit to Ms. Lindiwe Mahlangu, the South African High Commissioner in London.
