The South African Communist Party mourns the death of Comrade George Nene, and conveys its sincerest condolences to the Nene family, our liberation movement and society at large. Nene passed away on Friday. He was a veteran of our struggle for liberation and a seasoned Ambassador. His death imposed a great loss on his family and the history of our liberation struggle.
Our country`s liberation movement and government need to conduct a deep reflection process. This must produce a coherent, strategic programme to preserve the collective, revolutionary legacy of our liberation struggle and its stalwarts. The educational content produced must find profound expression in our curriculum, across all levels, and form part and parcel of our national imperative to build a non-racial, non-sexist and prosperous South Africa without class, racial and gender inequalities.
