4 January 2018

The South African Communist Party expresses its message of condolences to the family of the National Poet Laureate and liberation struggle stalwart Professor Keorapetse Kgosietsile, who died at 79 on Wednesday, 3 January 2018.

The death of Professor Kgosietsile, who was fondly known as Bra Willie, has robbed South Africa and indeed many countries of one of the most influential poets. Bra Willie played an important role in our struggle for liberation and social emancipation.

It is very crucial, in memory of Professor Kgosietsile, to deepen the struggle for curriculum transformation and advance the African revolution.
