SACP OR Tambo District Council Statement

26 February 2016, Eastern Cape

The South African Communist Party emerging from a successful and well attended District Council which took place on the 22 February 2016 at KSD FET Libode campus is firm in its resolve to advance the struggle for the overthrow of capitalism in South Africa and the world by also eradicating all its gender and racial manifestations which have wrought nothing else but destruction of the very fabric of human life.

On the parasitic bourgeoisie

We are extremely pertubed by the increasing influence of some business families over government politicians and bureacrats which gives them untold advantage over genuine small medium enterprises in acquiring access to government facilitated business opportunities and their disdain for the sovereignty of the South African state. We note that this, has been aided and abated by the political protection they receive from sections of the movement.

We are also disgusted by the new alliance which has developed no longer composed of the structures of the liberation movement but between some cadres deployed in the state and the parasitic bourgeoisie whose main aim is not the advancement of the struggle but a contract to loot.

Rather than playing a role to assist transformation, the parasitic bourgeoisie in alliance with the established white capital has played a significant role in destroying organs of the mass democratic movement. It has used the little access to resources it has to corrupt the very political fabric of collective sacrifice and struggle, turning conferences into tender boards.

We however warn that whatever misgivings that may be there about the opportunistic role of the parasitic bourgeoisie, no one should forget that they are simply the underlings of white capital. They may even be the public face of tenders but they are nothing but facilitators in the tender processes, the real beneficiaries of tenders are white capitalists who benefit at times without even being part of the bidding process because they benefit at every level of the value-chain.

Exclusion and exploitation

We appreciate the strides and good work done by our government in delivering clean drinking water to our people, in particular in the rural areas; building of houses; building of schools; provision of scholar transport and nutrition and many other government interventions in cushioning people against poverty. Though there has been a lot done to improve the livelihoods of the people of South Africa, there are still communities who continue to find themselves at the receiving end of harrowing deseases, massive poverty, rising drug abuse, lack of clean running water, indadequate sanitation and all other forms of dehumanization directed primarily at the oppressed in our country while capitalists continue to rake billions in profit.

We call on the workers throughout the towns of Flagstaff, Lusikisiki, Port St Johns, Libode, Ngqeleni, Mqanduli, Mthatha, Qumbu and Tsolo to unite and fight against their exploitation by unscrupulous retail shops. We call on the rural masses to unite and wage a relentless fight at the lack of adequate scholar transport and their exclusion from water provision.

As the Communist Party in the O.R Tambo District we will resist any attempts to erect a toll-road within our district. We will reject any attempts to commodify our roads. We warn those who have an idea that they can turn these roads we travel in into their spaza shops that here, they will meet resistance that they have never imagined. Our people will never sit-by and allow looting to find space through public roads.

As a district of mine workers we are of the firm view that the state must hold minng companies directly responsible for all mining accidents because of the manner in which these companies prioritise profits over people's lives. We view the Lily Mine incident as yet another reason why these mines should be brought under democratic people's control.

Free Education

As communists we have always believed that Education is not a commodity that must be auctioned to the highest bidder. Education must be universally free, compulsory and freed of the capitalist stranglehold which seeks to build human machines that can only be neatly incorporated into the capitalist production process. We view those opposed to the introduction of Free Education as the worst form of anti-working class parasites.

Every year, institutions of Higher Learning, pitilessly exclude thousands of working class students from poor working class backgrounds who sit at home in the backyards of their rural homes with little to no prospects for a better life. Student struggles are community struggles. We call on our communities to join the struggle for Free Education.

When the ANC government increases NSFAS funding, Institutions of Higher Learning gobble it all up by opportunistically increasing fees, thus resulting in this funding assisting fewer students than it could have managed. Some of our people are deemed to earn too much to qualify for NSFAS, but are too poor to afford fees in institutions of Higher Learning. Many working class households have a story of dashed hopes.

Elections

We commit ourselves to campaign for an overwhelming election victory of the African National Congress. We will fight to ensure that the process will be fair and allow the expression of the aspirations of the masses. We will not be party to anything that seeks to explain away problems faced by the masses. We will campaign with a clear conscience.

Conclusion

As the Communist Party we will not bother ourselves by complaining, but we will lead campaigns to change the lives of the oppressed and to turn the tables against the oppressors.
