SACP is saddened by the death of legendary Muvhango actor Sammy "Vho-Mushasha" Moeti

15 October 2015

Moeti passed on Monday night. Moeti played the character of Vho-Mushasha on Muvhango and also acted in the movie Elelwani as "the mad man" Madwara. The SACP expresses its message of sincere condolences to Moeti's family, friends, community and the entire cast at Muvhango as well as the producers and directors for the sore loss suffered.

"Vho-Mushasha" will be sorely missed by the whole country. His passing on is a hurtful reminder of the necessity for radical transformation in the arts industry. The industry is presently city-centric, and remains overwhelmingly characterised by uneven development between urban and rural. People in rural areas lack access to resources and opportunities as compared to people in big cities that have a concentration of resources and are host to a higher number of opportunities.
