14 June 2015
The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape wishes to express its grave concern on the worrying allegations against Cde Mzoleli Mrara, the ANC Chief Whip, who is also the SACP Provincial Chairperson as published in the Saturday Dispatch of 13 June 2015.
As a matter of principle, we stand firm against any form of abuse of public funds. We stand opposed to any actions that appear to be an abuse of leadership positions for our benefits or of those with close proximity to leadership.
It is for this reason that the SACP Provincial Working Committee (PWC) will during this week afford Cde Mzoleli Mrara an opportunity to explain his side and for him to take the SACP into confidence as it relates to the worrying reports of yesterday.
We know as a matter of fact during the days in which Cde Mrara is accused to have been on holiday, was attending the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) 4th National Congress in Cape Town as part of the SACP Delegation.
We further commit to announce the way forward after the PWC meeting has comprehensively dealt with the matter as outlined above.
Issued by the SACP Eastern Cape.
