The South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape wishes to register its strongest objection to the building of relations between our provincial government and the apartheid Israel.
The government of the apartheid Israel is directly responsible for the spilling of the blood of people of Palestine, the killings of the children and women of Palestine and other atrocities. The people of Palestine are being killed by the Israeli government for wanting a right to determine their destiny and leave as free people.
As South Africans we cannot forget the painful road we have traversed under the brutal apartheid South Africa and the International Solidarity we have enjoyed in bringing the unjust system to its knees. The apartheid Israel is no different to the apartheid South Africa which was declared as a crime against humanity by the United Nations.
It is the same Israel that defied the sanctions posed upon the apartheid South Africa by the International community, and continued to have strong relations with the puppet regime of Lennox Sebe.
We are calling upon the Eastern Cape government to review the decision to work with apartheid Israel. Our challenges of social inequality, unemployment and poverty cannot make us to forego the principles of justice and human solidarity and force us to take side with the brutal oppressors of the people of Palestine.
