The South African Communist Party Pandelani Ramagoma District Council held to prepare for the 6th District Congress scheduled for month calls for local economic development to focus on building a people`s economy. The District Council emphasises support for the development of a thriving co-operatives sector to reduce unemployment, poverty and inequality as part and parcel of local economic development.
The District Councils has called for urgent stakeholder consultation and engagement on the current proposals on municipals re-establishment by the Demarcations Board. This process has implications to our communities and failure to handle it with care could result in serious problems.
The District Council noted the manoeuvres of a counter-revolution against the National Democratic Revolution and in particular against the second, more radical phase of our transition to a completely non-racial and non-sexist democratic and prosperous South Africa. The only way to defeat this counter-revolution is to build and further develop the unity of all progressive and revolutionary forces on the ground.
Solidarity with the people of Palestine
The District Council resolved to intensify solidarity work with the people of Palestine who are facing land expropriation and worse than apartheid-type genocidal operations by Israel.
Solidarity with the people of Cuba
The District Council reaffirms support for the people of Cuba who have for over half a century faced the brutality of United States imperialism. The U.S. is continuing with its illegal economic embargo on Cuba. This embargo has in many ways been expanded into an international counter-revolution against the right of the Cuban people to exercise their national self-determination and sovereignty. The District will strengthen its solidarity with the people of Cuba.
