The South African Communist Party in Ephraim Mogale District is saddened by the sudden death of Comrade Frans "Tommy" Nkoana. We send our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and comrades of the late revolutionary leader. Cde Tommy Nkoana was a frank selfless revolutionary, a freedom fighter and People`s tribune.
We acknowledge the tremendous work executed by Cde Tommy as the Regional Head for Department of Sports, Culture and Recreation in Nkangala Region, Political Advisor to the Premier of Mpumalanga Hon. D.D Mabuza and as a Public Representative for the ANC in the National Assembly. In his tenure in the national Assembly after the 2014 General Elections he served in the Labour and Communication Portfolio Committees respectively.
Cde Tommy Nkoana was a product of the progressive youth formations in our mass democratic movement and he grew within the ranks of the movement. He served as an ANC Zonal leader of Moutse west, a leader of the progressive trade union, SADTU, ANC Regional Secretary of Western Region (now Nkangala) and further again as an ANC Regional Secretary of Nkangala region for about 14 years, which made him the longest serving secretary in the region. He was very instrumental in the rebuilding of ANC and leagues branches post the unbanning.
Towards his untimely death, he was a committed member of the SACP and contributing to the vibrant and campaigning SACP in the district and Mpumalanga province. The spear has fallen and ours is to pick it up, continue with the struggle for the economic and social emancipation of our people.
