1 October 2014
The Provincial officials and Office Bearers of the SACP and COSATU met on Tuesday, 30 September 2014. The meeting was to consolidate unity and cohesion between the two socialist-axis in the province.
Defend the unity and cohesion of the two working class organisations
The meeting reaffirmed the relevance of the two organisations in uniting the working class for the advancement of the National Democratic Revolution. They have a lot in common and the ultimate objective is to deliver socialism. The SACP and COSATU remain intact and united in the province and are both ready to defend their revolutionary principles of defending and advancing working class and poor’s interests.
Defend and Unite the Alliance
The meeting reaffirmed the alliance as the only beacon of hope to lead the second radical phase of the transition within the context of the National Democratic Revolution in the quest for a qualitative economic transformation.
We will jealously fight for the unity of the alliance in the province, believing that only a strong alliance will be able to lead social, economic and political campaigns on the ground especially as we approach the 2016 Local Government Elections.
Advance and Defend the National Democratic Revolution
We have noted a rise of anti-majoritarian forces that are hell-bent on undermining our democracy. These forces led by the party of white, apartheid privilege, the DA and the right-wing party with left-rhetoric sound bites masquerading as working class revolutionaries joined by the liberal media; they continue to attack and discredit the revolutionary alliance and President Jacob Zuma in particular.
The revolutionary alliance must close ranks in defence of the hard fought democratic breakthrough that if not properly guarded can be reversed by these reactionary forces. We will continue to implement programs and campaigns especially the implementation of the five priorities as led by the African National Congress as we believe that such shall take us to an uninterrupted direct route to socialism.
Consolidation of joint programs and campaigns
The meeting committed for the two organisations to work closely and implement joint programs and campaigns. We call upon all our structures to work together at all levels. Ours is a just struggle for socialism.
