6 May 2014
Tomorrow, the 7th of May 2014, South Africans will witness yet another important milestone in the revolutionary calendar of our country.
On this day, South Africans will reaffirm the African National Congress (ANC) and give our revolutionary alliance a fresh mandate to radically pursue the second phase of our transition, which will focus on radical economic transformation.
Here in the Western Cape, millions of the working class yearn for liberation from oppressive, divisive and exclusive policies of the sister party of apartheid government, the Democratic Alliance. As the South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Western Cape, we call upon our people, particularly the working class not to miss this opportunity of determining their future.
A right to vote is a precious right; it is a right that many of our comrades paid a heavy price for during our struggle to emancipate humanity. This right never came cheap as many martyrs laid their lives for "one man one vote". Thus, it will be the responsibility of all South Africans to advance, deepen and consolidate hard-won gains by exercising their democratic right and vote ANC.
An overwhelming victory for the ANC is a victory for the working class; it is a victory for second radical phase of transition. Together let us advance access to better health care, free and quality education, intensify infrastructure development for industrialisation and job creation and most importantly fight for a total emancipation of our people.
A victory for the ANC in the Western Cape is a victory over regressive policies implemented by the DA; it is a victory towards decisively fighting drugs and gangsterism; it is a victory to emancipate women from gender violence; it is a victory to restore human dignity across racial lines; it is a victory for aggressive development of the working class communities; it is a victory for quality human settlements, a victory for increased access to land; and it is a defeat for the arrogant Party of the bosses - the DA.
The SACP in the Western Cape has toiled through the length and the breadth of the province and we are convinced that victory is certain. Working class communities across the racial divide have witnessed the DA`s divide and rule strategy, have witnessed their arrogant racial "baas mentality" over African and Coloureds, and have witnessed the manipulation of facts of services provided only to the wealthy.
The working class communities have seen the light, and are now united as one progressive peoples camp to vote out the neo-liberal DA. The people will indeed teach the DA, the party of white male supremacy, a hard lesson by removing it from the Whale Street (Western Cape Legislature).
