SACP`s Message of Solidarity with the Sudanese Communist Party and people

25 September 2013

The SACP has noted the deteriorating situation in Sudan, which is a direct result of the complex interplay of the socio-economic and political adverse factors exacerbated by the al-Bashar regime and ruling clique mismanagement of the Sudan. The recent violent clashes and the resorting to overtly brutal methods of fatal shootings (by security forces and police) and indiscriminate detention of opponents and innocent people, confirms the deep-seated multiple-crises which the al-Bashar regime must take full responsibility for.

We urge for the unconditional release of those detained, especially, comrade Sidig Yousif - a member of the SCP PB (who is 79 years old) and Mirghany Atta Almanan, a leading trade unionist and member of the PB of the SCP. We call for an immediate genuine dialogue between the regime and opposition forces to chart a way forward out of this morass, which a creation of the al-Bashar regime`s policies and dead-end conservatism and narrow religious fundamentalism.

The progressive people of Sudan and the Communist Party and its members have borne the brunt of the dead-end policies and brutal repression of al-Bashar regime. We pledge our full solidarity with them and the progressives in Sudan!
