Today marks the 92nd Anniversary of the founding of the South African Communist Party, the revolutionary vanguard of South Africa`s working class. Since its formation the SACP has been at the forefront of leading working class struggles and will continue to do so till we reach a Socialist South Africa.
For years the SACP has come to pioneer various principles and policies that today have found resonance with our people. It was the SACP that was in the forefront of building a non-racial movement in South Africa, it was the SACP that pioneered values of progressive journalism, armed struggle and so forth. It is the SACP that took up the struggle for the introduction of progressive policies today like the NHI. It was the SACP that argued for a need for strategic and coherent long term planning in the state which has resulted in the NDP we have today, its weaknesses notwithstanding.
It was the SACP that led campaigns against the banks and demanded that banks must be transformed to serve the people. It was the SACP that took up campaigns to raise issues about the cost of communication in our country.
The SACP will this weekend hold a commemorative rally to mark the 92nd Anniversary rally as follows:
