SACP North West PEC press statement

11 July 2013

The SACP in the North West held its ordinary Provincial Executive Committee {PEC} meeting on the 6th of July 2013 at City of Matlosana, which was addressed by Deputy General Secretary of the SACP, Cde Solly Afrika Mapaila.

The PEC joined millions of the people around the world in wishing our own revolutionary icon Cde Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela a speedy recovery from his current health problems. Cde Nelson Mandela is a revolutionary that served both the ANC and its military wing the people`s army ,Umkhonto we Sizwe with distinction ,while the parties like the predecessor of the DA the Democratic Party {DP}were giving the apartheid regime oxygen to keep it alive. They gave it legitimacy by serving in it and apologizing for it.

The PEC issued a call to all South Africans to reject the attempts of the DA and its current apartheid apologists to steal Cde Nelson Mandela`s legacy. We also call upon the people of Tlokwe to unite behind the ANC and vote it into power during the coming bi-elections and in the national general elections in 2014 in his honour. The revolutionary alliance needs to ensure that the ANC achieves a landslide victory in order to be able to implement the radical second phase of transition as mandated by the policy conference and the 53rd national conference in Mangaung.

To this end we call upon all revolutionaries having contributed 67 minutes of service delivery on the 18th July, to further spend time with our prospective young voters teaching them about the contribution that Ntate Mogolo Rolihlahla Nelson Mandela made and encourage them to vote for the ANC in his honour. This we must do to expose the lies that our young people are being fed by Helen Zille.

The PEC reflected on the state of the organisation and is satisfied that during the period under review, our people in the province and nationally have confidence in the leadership of the South African Communist Party as a true vanguard of the working class. The SACP in the province is humbled by this confidence which resulted in the increase in its membership in the province during the period under review. This was as a result of joint programs with unions in particular.

The PEC directed that the program with unions in the province should be intensified to defend and consolidate the defense of all our unions from political scavengers who will stop at nothing to destroy our unions with the intention of ultimately destroying the alliance. Our special focus will be on the NUM, SATAWU and POPCRU. We therefore call upon members of these three unions and all other affiliates to reject any attempt by populists to divide these organizations.

"UNITE THE PEOPLE`S CAMP, NEUTRALIZE YOUR DETRACTORS AND ISOLATE THE ENEMY"

We shall, going forward, intensify the unity of the alliance during this period especially on the eve of the national elections. Our approach to the coming elections is that war has been declared on our revolution and therefore we shall spare no drop of our energy towards the landslide victory of the ANC. We therefore call on all our members working with the ANC to consolidate election structures at all levels.

All campaigns of the SACP in particular "the know your neighborhood campaign" will be intensified as part of our road to the 2014 elections.

The PEC welcome the recent reshuffle by the premier and will work with the current administration to continue to make the lives of our people better. We further congratulate all ministers appointed by President Zuma to serve in his cabinet.
