SACP wishes our national teams well

7 June 2013

The SACP would like to take this opportunity to wish our Senior National Men Football team and the National Rugby team well as they do battle this weekend. This is a time for all South Africans to unite and rally behind our National Teams hoping that they will continue to make us proud.

We extend a special word of well wishes to our Senor National Men Football team given the challenges that the team experienced en-route to their game. The qualification for 2014 Soccer World Cup will be an important achievement for the players, the coach and the entire country.

The SACP would also like to encourage our National Cricket team to remain focused and not to be let down by the loss against India yesterday. We wish the boys well as they prepare for battle with Pakistan on Monday.

The 13th National Congress of the SACP identified and prioritized participation and leadership of SACP cadres in community sports structures. This is an important terrain of the Battle of Ideas and will put our members across alliance structures at a driving seat to inform debates and actions as far as sports transformation is concerned. The SACP urges our alliance structures to take this task up.
