We the South African Communist Party (SACP) in the Eastern Cape Province are very disconcerted by the systemic attacks to Mr. Andile Fani, the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality`s City Manager by the corrupt elements and fugitives of democracy in and outside the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality.
We believe it is so cold and rather inhuman to rancorously attack Mr. Andile Fani in and outside the bourgeoisie media whilst he is still in mourning of his father, who recently passed on. This should be very straining towards him and his family as they are in mourning of their parent. We would like to affirm our support to him and his family during these trying times.
What is being raised by Mr. Sonny Du Plessis is nothing new as it was raised by his allies, Democratic Alliance (DA) and it was discussed and resolved. It is myopic of Mr. Du Plessis to question his qualifications when all due processes were followed in his employment in the municipality. This should be viewed as nothing but a desperation act by agent provocateurs and failed business people who cannot live with an incorruptible City Manager (Andile Fani) as they want to turn the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality to their accumulation source. This cold and desperate action can also be attributed to some councillors within the metro who are implicated in serious corruption; who believe the removal of Cde Andile Fani and anointment of their puppet will cleanse themselves of their activism in corruption.
It is on the arrival of Mr. Fani when the municipality was saved from the edge of unfortunate collapse. It is under his good leadership when many corrupt elements were revealed and those found with their hands on the cookie jar were brought to book. It is under his leadership that populace of Buffalo City have seen commitment in service delivery. There is now stability in the BCMM administration, the only instability is on the politicians; some politicians are now using officials to stall progress in the municipality.
We are calling upon people of the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality to do whatever they can in the defense of this committed and incorruptible City Manager in the history of this municipality. People of Buffalo City must never lower their guards; they must forever stay vigilant in defense of their municipality and its resources as corrupt people are now showing desperation to capture the municipality for their business cartels. These corrupt elements and faceless councillors whom have stoop so low into turning media sources should call for action insofar as the Ernst & Young forensic report is concerned and stop masquerading as the genuine people whilst working in the interest of business cartels who wants to be in control of the BCMM economy.
We are calling upon progressive people`s organs and organized workers (SAMWU) in the Buffalo City to rise in defense of their City Manager and their municipality and allow Mr. Fani to continue with the good work he has been doing. The progressive formations in the Buffalo City and other parts of the province must acrimoniously reject these corrupt elements and expose them for what they are.
We are once again pledging our solidarity with all those incorruptible deployees and officials, who are consistently putting the interest of the people before themselves. We shall rise in fearless defense of our comrades who are systemically attacked because of their firm stance against corruption and commitment to service delivery. Our revolution shall never blink, we shall forever remain vigilant. We remain committed to the building of corruption free government and that should not be viewed as any sign of cowardice.
