SACP in KZN is outraged at the systemic sidelining of Judge Madondo

17 October 2012

The South African Communist Party in the Moses Mabhida Province (previously known as KwaZulu-Natal province) is outraged at the systemic sidelining of Judge Isaac Madondo in what clearly looks like an orchestrated taking over of the judiciary in the province by the elite.

The SACP in KwaZulu-Natal feels that sidelining an efficient and competent jurist such as Judge Madondo is an effective reversal of the many gains that have been made in the transformation of the judiciary.

It is shocking and insulting that in a province with over 80% of the population being IsiZulu speaking black Africans, not a single one of these people was deemed competent enough either to serve as Judge President or even Deputy Judge President, said SACP KwaZulu-Natal Themba Mthembu.

Judge Madondo is a highly respected, competent and experienced jurist who has the clear understanding of the socio-economic challenges facing the people of KwaZulu-Natal – especially the poor rural majority.

The SACP strongly feels that his sidelining is part of an elitist-driven efforts to take over the judiciary in KwaZulu-Natal which will effectively marginalise the rural poor who have never had proper access to justice in this country.
