The SACP in the Brian Bunting District is dismayed by the decision of the Blue Downs Magistrate Court to withdraw the case of four young Africans from eMfuleni near Cape Town who were raped and brutalized by racist barbaric owners of AC Wendy`s factory in Blackheath early this year. The case has been withdrawn for fallacious and ludicrous reasons provided by the police that the victims did not cooperate with the investigator. What is sad is that, the prosecutor himself could not substantiate these fallacious claim claims for the benefit of the victims.
Since the emergence of this case we noted that the police wanted to sweep it under the carpet to protect their racist friends. As early as April 2011 we expressed our discontent and we said........"The SACP is further outraged by the inept attitude of the police at Mfuleni police station who refused to investigate the crime when it was reported. Those officers are not fit to fight the scourge of crime and serve the public in particular the vulnerable and the poor in our society. They must be put on immediate suspension for dereliction of duty".
The police only investigated the case based on our mass protest and now they instigated that the case be withdrawn for frivo lous reasons. They have fooled the court but we are not fooled and we will continue until the perpetrators are brought to justice. We will campaign for reinstatement of the case and that the responsible police are held accountable for their ineptitude based on their ties with the racist perpetrators.
We will embark on mass action in Mfuleni to bring this injustice in to full public glare. We demand that action be immediately taken by the station commander about these reckless police. We shall not rest until the perpetrators are brought to justice.
