Brian Bunting District celebrates Women`s Day by handing over a weelchair to an elderly woman

9 August 2011

During the door-door campaign in the recent local government elections, the General Secretary Blade Nzimande, Cosatu President and Central Committee member Sdumo Dlamini visited the Cape Metro. When comrade Nzimande was in ward 6, Kraaifontein, Wallacedene he was distressed to see an elderly woman suffering from stroke who did not even have a wheel-chair. The leadership of the SACP and the ward councillors of all wards that were visited were mandated to make follow up on all critical issues raised by our people. Subsequently, the District leadership of the SACP has been engaged in a fundraising campaign to get a wheel-chair.

As the SACP in the Brian Bunting District, we therefore celebrate the 2011 women`s day by handing-over the wheelchair to her to ensure that from now onwards she can be able to move from one place to the other with a comfortable wheel-chair. The wheel-chair was handed by the SACP Provincial Secretary Comrade Khaya Magaxa and the ward councillor, comrade Simphiwe Nonkeyizana. We say thanks to those who made this possible by ensuring that mama Iris Charles gets the wheel-chair.
