The SACP takes this opportunity to congratulate and wish the newly appointed councilors well in their new roles and responsibilities to serve the masses of our people with higher degree of sacrifice, total dedication and as servants of our people. Once more a special word of thanks goes to our people who have renewed the mandate of the ANC-led alliance in the recent polls. This is a sign of overwhelming confidence in the movement, its allies and its program for development. This assertion by the overwhelming masses of people it need not be undermined by all those who are assigned to lead and transform the face of local government.
One of our challenges will be to continue working side by side with our communities, on a programme that will enable us to serve them (working class and the poor) with distinction were ever they are. And Part of the lessons moving forward is that our dynamic interaction between and amongst our structures, as well as our communities is of paramount importance, so let us build on our interactions with them started during the campaign.
As we continue to deepen democracy at this level we must assert all organs of people`s power in implementing our manifesto. As for the DA and COPE`s diabolic marriage of counter revolution, racial politics, white supremacy, anti-majoritanism ,and the dislike for the ANC are all manifestation of capitalism which deepens corruption, poverty and underdevelopment, shall never deter us.
The priorities for our people remains largely the same of urgent integrated housing delivery, infrastructure development, safe and affordable public safety to build communities that are safe and free.
Together we shall make sure that the confidence of our masses is not misconstrued to mean; looting of state resources, selfishness, self-serving agendas, and accumulation of suspicious wealth, elitism and behavior that undermines the ANC-led alliance.
We commit to work with our allies to realize all our set tasks both in the immediate and longer term and for these to be achieved we need all our people to rally behind the vision of our transformation project of building a non racial, non sexist, humane and better South Africa.
Together we have done more and once more ,together we can achieve much more, and challenges facing our people should be prioritized and translated this overwhelming victory into urgent, speedy and responsiveness local government, against elitism and corruption which carries a potential that threatens our achievements of the last 17 years.
We are on course and we dare not deviate and defy to carry our people`s needs and desire`s which should inform all our decisions towards building a strong, vibrant and developmental local state with all necessary capacities.
Our movement care`s for our people and must and this should never be misconstrued to mean looting of state resources ,a cathedral of competing interests, cross interaction between the state and private interests, as well as patronage.
Let`s defend and consolidate our gains, and serve our people with dignity and honor.
