SACP supports FAWU in its struggle for recognition rights

6 April 2011

The SACP is appalled by the latest manoeuvres in the sales and merchandising sector to undermine the quality of jobs available to close to 36 000 people employed in that sector. In the year of job creation, it is indeed saddening to see that some are engaged in actions that are in direct contrast to the call of the creation of jobs and even undermining the quality of existing jobs.

The use of labour brokers in the industry, the modern day form of slavery, highly angers the SACP. This is a signal to the working class organisations not to lower their guard in the struggle for the complete banning of labour brokers.

The SACP fully supports FAWU in its course to secure bargaining rights and recognition rights for the union in order to mobilise workers to trash the system that abuses and exploits them daily.

Issued by the SACP.
