The SACP welcomes the findings of the inspectors from the Department of Agriculture on the wrong-doing by Supreme Poultry on how they have been reworking rotten chickens and reselling them to the public.
In our view this has been a deliberate move by Supreme Poultry to inflate its own profits at the expense of the health of our own people. At the time the scandal broke the response of Supreme Poultry was that there was nothing illegal in what they were doing. Now that the Department has found wrongdoing, the SACP calls for tougher punitive measures against Supreme Poultry including but not limited to imposing a heavy fine on the profits that where ill gotten to invest in our public health system.
We must hit the greedy, racist capitalists where it hurts most. Supreme Poultry must not get a slap on the wrist as corrective measures are taken as promised by the Minister. The SACP is equally outraged by media silence and attempts two sweep this matter under the carpet as if it was not an important national issue. The capitalist media does not want to expose the immoral conduct of those who fund them through advertisements. We must continuously hold the media accountable on their watchdog role over the immoral and barbaric capitalist system.
Issued by the SACP.
