10 June 2010
The SACP would like to take this opportunity to wish Bafana Bafana well on the eve of the opening game of the 2010 World Cup against Mexico. The team has impressed in the manner in which they have gone about their preparations and we hope they carry the same momentum into the official games.
We would also congratulate the LOC for their readiness and are looking forward to a successful first ever FIFA World Cup to be held in Africa.
We congratulate the workers for their contribution and the sterling work to ensure that the country has the kind of infrastructure that we have now which will be of benefit to the ordinary people of our country. The next 30 days is for the workers and the poor of this country to celebrate and enjoy world class football wherever they will be; in the stadia, on television, on radio and the different FIFA Fan Fests around the country.
We are aware that the World Cup will bring in millions and millions of rands into South African Football. The time is now for us not use the money to enrich individuals but to invest it in grassroots development of football and improving the standard and quality of our football.
Ke Nako!!
