At the invitation of the Portuguese Communist Party and the South African Communist Party, a meeting of the Working Group of the International Meeting of Communist and 010.
As usual in these occasions, the meeting was open to all parties who participate in the International Meetings. Present were thirteen Parties, including all the members of the Communist Party of Brazil, Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia, Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus, Communist Party of Cuba, Communist Party of Spain, Communist Party of Greece, Communist Party of India, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Lebanese Communist Party, Portuguese Communist Party and Communist Party of the Russian Federation.
The purpose of the meeting was to prepare the 12th International Meeting of the South African Communist Party. It was decided that it will take place in Johannesburg on December 3, 4 and 5, 2010, on the subject of «The deepening systemic crisis of capitalism. The tasks of Communists in defense of sovereignty, deepening social alliances, strengthening the anti-imperialist front in the struggle for peace, progress and Socialism».
The meeting produced a useful exchange of information and opinions on the latest developments of the international situation, stressing the worsening capitalist crisis strong resistance of the workers and the peoples, whose struggle received active internationalist solidarity. Namely, solidarity was expressed with Socialist Cuba and a specific resolution of solidarity was adopted.
The participant Parties also expressed their solidarity with the struggle of the Cypriot people against Turkish occupation and for the reunification of their country.
The participants in the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to pursue with the lines of action adopted at the International Meeting which was held in Delhi, in November 2009. In this respect, it was decided to mark the 65th anniversary of the victory over Nazi-Fascism, with the adoption of a joint statement and with a call to hold popular actions in the various countries, on the occasion of May 9, 2010.
Also in pursuance of the decision to undertake joint actions against NATO and its global expansion, against the renewed imperialist aggressiveness and against foreign military bases, and taking into account the Summit of this political-military bloc, scheduled for November, in Portugal, the participating parties adopted a common declaration «For peace, no to NATO!», calling on the workers and the peoples of the organizations to mobilize in the struggle for peace, against war and NATO.
In this regards, the parties participating in the meeting greet the «Campaign in defense of peace and against the NATO Summit in Portugal Peace, yes! NATO, no!» and express their conviction that the actions of struggle against NATO and its new strategic concept, scheduled for November of this year in Portugal, will have a strong expression.
