Issued by the SACP
10 August 2009
The SACP has received the news of the passing away of Cde Pandelani Ramagoma with shock and extreme sadness. At the time of his untimely death, Cde Sparks as he was affectionately known was the Chairperson of the SACP in the Limpopo province, a member of the PEC of the ANC and MEC of Public Works in the Provincial government of Limpopo. He met his death when the car he was travelling in was involved in a tragic accident this morning.
A humble and yet robust ideologue is no more. Cde Ramagoma placed maximum unity of the organisation in each and every debate and organisational activity he partook in. For many years, respected by many for his struggle credentials he would be satisfied with holding no executive position in the SACP until his comrades asked him to avail his experience to aid with the rebuilding process of the SACP in the year 2007.
In him we have lost a disciplined cadre of our movement, a dedicated communist and a true hero of our people.
We pass our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and colleagues.
The SACP is currently in consultation with the family and the alliance partners and will release further details once the consultation process has been concluded.
A communist to the end he was!!
