SACP Supports The Call Made By Communication Workers Union

27 March 2009

The SACP supports the call made by the Communication Workers Union for a halt on the ongoing restructuring at Telkom.

We are worried as the SACP that there seem to be increased appetite for those deployed in strategic areas in both government and state owned entities to drive processes to enrich themselves. The sweet nectar of power seems highly irresistible for those entrusted with the running of our public entities. The values of self interest and self enrichment are foreign to our movement and must be fought at all costs.

The SACP reiterate its call for the reversal of the sale of Telkom shares in Vodacom to Vodafone and supports the call made by CWU that the implementation of the “New Telkom SA Structure” must be brought to a halt.
