The SACP will host the 2008 Red October Campaign under the theme "Building Street Committees, Build People`s Power for a Revolutionary State".
This year`s campaign is aimed at building and deepening participatory democracy through street committees as a local level. This would include building street committees as organs of people`s power to interact with the challenges of crime, reviving and strengthening the Know Your Neigboorhood Campaign, dealing with the electricity crisis and driving a massive energy saving campaign, holding municipalities accountable and popularizing the Municipal Systems Act which demands that communities are consulted in key policy decisions.
