SACP Statement on the brutal murder of Avhatakali Netshisaulu

8 December 2006

The SACP has learnt with shock and a sense of outrage at the brutal murder of Avhatakali Netshisaulu, the beloved son of Mr Mathatha Tsedu, Editor of the City Press. Our sense of outrage is the brutality of the act and further underlines the urgency for South Africa as a nation to intensify an all-round mobilization against crime and criminality in our society.

As the SACP we strongly condemn this barbaric act, and call upon the police authorities to leave no stone unturned to apprehend the perpetrators. We also call upon all those who might have information about the perpetrators to contact the police as a matter of urgency.

The SACP wishes to express its most sincere condolences to Avhatakali´s family. Whilst we know that we can never really fully share in the pain of losing someone so close, we however hope that this message will go some way in easing the pain and suffering of his family.
