SACP message of support and condemnation of attacks on trains in Mumbai

27 August 2006

The SACP is outraged by yesterday’s senseless and bloody terror strikes on Mumbai trains in India that claimed not less than 160 lives of innocent commuting civilians. Part of a rising international trend in terrorist attacks is that, despite ridiculous claims about their “anti-systemic” objectives, they invariably maim ordinary people, the working class and the poor who rely on public transportation and public space for their social reproduction.

These attacks also provide a veneer for increased imperialist aggression leading as in the case of Iraq and Afghanistan, to wars of occupation and imperialist sponsored repressive interventions in nations states.

The SACP supports Indian communists in the call for compensation of the victims and the launching of an extensive probe into these attacks.

We also support the popular mobilization of the Indian masses and working people around the world to forge resistance demonstrations against terrorist intimidation, imperialism and for world peace.
