27 August 2006
The SACP General Secretary, Cde Blade Nzimande will lead a high level SACP delegation to visit China from the 16-23 July 2006. The SACP is deeply honoured by the invitation from the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China, Mr Hu Jintao which was conveyed by Mr Li Changchun a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Standing Committee and Politburo in late November 2005.
The visit forms part of our independent and traditional annual party-to-party bilateral relations programme in which our delegation will meet with the CPC to discuss, amongst other things, to discuss:
The SACP and the struggle for socialism, the evolution of the social strata in South Africa and how we seek to deepen, strengthen and safeguard the National Democratic Revolution and the contemporary international developments within the global left and socialist camp.
We wish to recall Mr Changchun in thanking Cde. Blade Nzimande for the SACP’s contribution that helped South Africa establish diplomatic relations with China. He noted that “both parties were born the same year and same month in July 1921” and that the “Chinese have therefore traditionally regarded us as brothers and sisters”. We hold the visit as the historical, important and symbolic to be undertaken in the month of the 85th Anniversary of the both our parties, the SACP and CPC.
Our delegation will also visit Research institutions, rural areas, Communist Party of China branches to share grassroots experience on party political and organization building.
