Statement of the YCL on the SACP Central Committee Commission Discussion Document on State Power and Electoral Options for the SACP

The Young Communist League of South Africa welcomes the Discussion Documents released today by the South African Communist Party on the relationship of the SACP to state power.

We see this as a bold step towards taking forward the discussions on the electoral path of the SACP which we spearheaded at the SACP Special National Congress (SNC) held in April last year.

The YCL will actively participate in shaping the discussion documents by convening a National Seminar and provincial focus groups on the discussion documents, so as to develop a perspective towards our National Congress scheduled for December this year.

We will further participate in the SACP Commission that was established as a result of the SNC resolution, and ensure that by the time the 12th National Congress takes place, a report is provided to that Congress.

We encourage our members to ensure that they study, discuss, and understand the discussion documents in order to ensure that we positively contribute to them.
