SACP Urges the Workers and the Poor to Go Out In Their Millions To Vote The ANC

Tuesday, 28 February 2006

The South African Communist Party (SACP) would like to urge all our people, especially the workers and the poor, to go out in their numbers to vote and vote for the African National Congress (ANC).

As the SACP we say vote the ANC because, together with the mass of our people, the ANC-led government has:

Provided millions more people with access to clean water, sanitation and electricity

Provided the aged and the children of our country with social grants and promoted their interests more than ever before

More people are now sheltered

More opportunities for education and training are being providedClinics and health centres are built and free medical care for the poor are being provided

But we insist as the SACP that more still has to be done and we should use our vote to ensure the realisation of the things we have not achieved so far.

Our people are still facing many challenges from unemployment to poverty and HIV/AIDS.

As the SACP we have mainly identified two main tasks facing us to realize our ideal society, those are:

A strong, unfied and developmental local government

Mobilisation and building of peoples power where we live

The SACP believes that there are a number of opportunities to be explored not only by Communists but by our communities in ensuring that we CREATE BETTER COMMUNITIES.

The ANC has adopted a code of conduct for its councillors:

All ANC councilors are expected to:

As the SACP we expect our cadres both in the local government system and outside to ensure that we equally revive the organs of peoples power to ensure the realisation of the objectives we set for ourselves, with and for the workers and the poor.
