SACP Dr Yusuf Dadoo (West Rand) District Supports the YCL/COSAS March

Wednesday, 01 February 2006

SACP supports the Young Communist League (YCL) and COSAS in their march, which will take place tomorrow, Thursday, 02 February 2006.

The march will start at Khutsong Stadium at 11h00 and proceed to Khutsong Police Station where memorandum of demands would be delivered at 13h00. This will be one of the series of protests actions that all organisations aligned to the SACP will be embarking on to show our disapproval for the arrogant move by government to incorporate Merafong into North West.

We want to show government and all those behind this dirty decision that resistance will continue until the voices of the masses are heard. It is not going to be on terms of those who are in power, but in terms determined by the people. Otherwise the incorporation will only be on book, but never to be materialise on the ground for as long as the people do not want.

We will resist at all costs despite the attempts by authorities to ban any activities aligned to the Communist Party in the area. We have noted the behaviour of the police and some individuals in the municipality who still behave in the same manner like that of the apartheid regime. This calls on us to resist their attitude in the same manner we have resisted apartheid.

Many attempts have been made to mislead the public and to pacify the people to think that there is now happiness in Merafong whereas there is actually none.

The streets of Merafong tomorrow will be filled by young people, accompanied by their leaders and parents to show government that we do not accept the forceful and unilateral incorporation to North West.
