Alliance Ten-A-Side

Friday, 04 March 2005

The Alliance of ANC, SACP, COSATU and SANCO held a scheduled ten-a-side meeting today (4 March) in Johannesburg. The meeting was attended by senior leadership of each organisation.

The meeting continued the ongoing discussion within the Alliance about how to strengthen our unity in action in pursuit of our common objective of creating a non-racial, non-sexist, democratic and united South Africa. To this end, the meeting agreed on a joint Alliance programme of action, which will be launched after the Alliance Summit that is scheduled to sit in April.

The five pillars of the programme of action are:

Coordination and leadership to society
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the FC
Advancing the agreements reached at the Growth and Development Summit
Advancing people’s power for local development
Solidarity in Africa and the world

The delegations were led by ANC National Chairperson (Mosuia Lekota), SACP General Secretary (Blade Nzimande), COSATU President (Willie Madisha) and SANCO President (Mlungisi Hlongwane).
