The South African Communist Party (SACP) is to hold the 10th anniversary memorial for Comrade Joe Slovo, Slovo is the former General Secretary of the SACP and a former chairperson, he was as well a National Executive Committee (NEC) member of the African National Congress.
The memorial will be held at the Avalon Cemetery in Soweto were Slovo was buried in 1995. The SACP will dedicate this memorial to the 50th anniversary of the Freedom Charter which was adopted by our people mainly the poor and the working class on 26 June 1955. Expected to attend and address this event is the former President of our country Comrade Nelson Mandela and our Alliance partners COSATU, the ANC and SANCO.
Our General Secretary Comrade Blade Nzimande will be the keynote speaker as the current political leader of the Party. In his speech Comrade Blade is expected to outline the SACP''s 2005 political and organizational program. He will be accompanied by members of the Central Committee of the SACP and leaders of all our structures including Branches, Districts and Provinces.
