Financial sector campaign coalition responds to financial sector charter and other recent developments in the financial sector

The Financial Sector Campaign Coalition (FSCC) invites the media to an extensive press briefing on the transformation of the financial sector in South Africa at its offices at 10h00 on Wednesday, 26th May 2004.

The briefing arises out of the FSCC´s comprehensive review of the Financial Sector Summit Agreements of August 2002 and will include an assessment of the Financial Sector Charter given recent developments and attempts to implement this Charter. Other issues to be covered will include negotiations in Nedlac on credit bureaus and the Department of Trade and Industry´s credit law review.

The FSCC will also announce its programme of action which will include public hearings in the 9 provincial legislatures and the national parliament, mass pickets and renewed pressure on the financial sector to make the banks serve the people.
