SACP to hold Chris Hani commemoration events as part of Election Campaign

Saturday, 10 April will mark the 11th anniversary of the death of Chris Hani, the former SACP General Secretary and member of the ANC National Executive Committee.

As part of the election campaign, the SACP will host the following activities:

1. National Rally

• 09h00, Sunday, 11 April
• Princess Magogo Stadium, KwaMashu, KwaZulu Natal
• Speakers: Blade Nzimande (SACP General Secretary), Sbusiso Ndebele (ANC KwaZulu Natal Provincial Chairperson), Willie Madisha (COSATU President)

2. Visit to Hani's grave

• 09h00, Saturday, 10 April
• Boksburg Cemetery, Elspark, Boksburg, Gauteng
• Speakers: Mrs. Limpho Hani, Blade Nzimande, ANC, Willie Madisha, SANCO

3. Chris Hani Memorial Lectures

• 17h00, Wednesday, 7 April, Nursing College Auditorium, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, Soweto. Speaker: Charles Nqakula (SACP National Chairperson)
• 17h00, Wednesday, 7 April, Mansfield Hall (Berea campus), Durban Institute of Technology, Speaker: Blade Nzimande
• 14h30, Wednesday, 7 April, Main Hall, University of Zululand, Ongoye. Speaker: Buti Manamela (National Secretary, Young Communist League)
• 12h00, Saturday, 10 April, D.H. Williams Hall, Katlehong, East Rand, to be preceded by a door-to-door campaign. Speaker: Gwede Mantashe (SACP Political Bureau member)
