The South African Communist Party calls for the intensification of the workers' strike against Equity Aviation Services (EAS). The management at EAS has proved itself as ruthless corporate mercenaries committed to stage a coup against workers' rights. They cannot be allowed to do this. From today, the South African Communist Party will be making a R5,000 monthly donation until the workers' victory to the SATAWU Solidarity Fund in support of the more than 400 workers on a 3-month old strike.
The SACP calls on all its members and other individual South African workers to donate at least R10 each per month until the victory of the EAS workers in their struggle for fair working conditions and a living wage. Donations can be made to Account Number - 008788154/001, SATAWU Call Account, Standard Bank, Carlton Centre branch, Branch code - 002305.
The Communist Party fully supports the strike by EAS workers. The solidarity campaign also includes sending protest letters to Equity Aviation (fax number - 011 622 0963).
The Equity Aviation strike is a practical demonstration of what privatisation, outsourcing and casualisation means: profits for a few, increased exploitation for workers; economic empowerment for a small black elite and massive economic disempowerment for many black people!
