From this morning to Saturday, the General Secretary of the South African Communist Party (SACP), Blade Nzimande, is leading a Party elections campaign in the Southern Cape towns of Mossel Bay, Knysna, Plettenberg Bay and George.
"The Western Cape province is critical in the ANC-led elections campaign. The workers and the poor in the Southern Cape are clear that an ANC victory in the Western Cape will be central in meeting their needs", said Nzimande.
The campaign will include 5 rallies, canvassing at the Plettenberg Bay taxi rank, and meetings with the Southern Cape regional structures and activists of the SACP, the ANC, COSATU and the South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU) who are hosting the campaign. "As workers, SADTU members are concerned about their conditions. We hope that the campaign and visit will address these", said Sibongile Kwazi, SADTU Southern Cape Regional Secretary.
"Through this campaign we are reaching out to African, Coloured and white workers to expose the reactionary agenda of the DA. In the long-term, it will be class-conscious workers who will defeat this agenda. That is why we are also launching Party structures through this campaign", said Khaya Magaxa, SACP Western Cape Provincial Secretary.
The activities planned are as follows:
Thursday, 18 March
Friday, 19 March
Saturday, 20 March
