PRESS CONFERENCE TO RELEASE THE STATEMENT OF THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE YOUNG COMMUNIST LEAGUE

Later today, the Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) will hold a Press Conference to release the statement of the Inaugural Meeting of its National Committee:

Biccard, Braamfontein

The YCL's Inaugural National Committee meeting was the first since the YCL was launched as a youth wing of the South African Communist Party (SACP) in December 2003.

The Press Conference will be addressed by YCL National Office Bearers and will include YCL positions on:

• 2004 elections and why young people must register and vote for the ANC
• Opening of schools and other educational institutions
• YCL campaign for free education
• YCL audit of 10-year transformation of education in South Africa
• Announcement of the members of the YCL National Working Committee elected by the National Committee
