The South African Communist Party in the West Rand District in Gauteng province, during this year of remembering the communist martyrs, remembers one of the longest serving National Chairpersons of the SACP, Dr. Yusuf Mohammed “Mota” Dadoo. The commemorations will be in a form of the Memorial Lecture on 19 September 2003 and the rally on 20 September 2003 at Bob van Reenen Stadium, Mogale City.
Dr Dadoo was born in Mogale City (Krugersdorp) on 05 September 1909 and died in exile in London in 1983. During the time of his death he was the National Chairperson of the SACP.
All media is invited to the press conference that will take place on Tuesday, 16 September 2003 at Mogale City (Krugersdorp) Municipality Building, Mayoral Boardroom at cnr Market and Commissioner Street, at 10:00. Dr Yusuf Dadoo’s daughter, Roshan Dadoo and other family members will also attend. The executive mayor of Mogale City, advocate Lentswe Mokgatle is also to meet Dadoo’s daughter on that Tuesday morning.
The ANC led alliance is ready for this commemoration and all structures are ready for the Memorial Lecture and the rally next weekend.
