The General Secretary of the Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), Zwelinzima Vavi, will address the meeting of the Central Committee (CC) of the South African Communist Party (SACP) starting on 15 August.
Comrade Vavi will address the CC on the state of the trade union movement and the challenges facing the 8th COSATU Congress to be held in September.
Comrade Vavi will also speak to the COSATU vision or 2015 document (consolidating working class power towards 2015 for quality jobs). In the light of the SACP's own medium term-vision document this COSATU document is critical in SACP discussions.

As announced earlier, the focus of the Political Report will be on the state of the progressive social movement in our country, the 2004 elections and the challenges facing the SACP on these matters.
