The July monthly meeting of the Political Bureau of the South African Communist Party (SACP), being held on Friday, 25 July 2003), is on the eve of the 82nd anniversary of the SACP.

The SACP's 82nd Anniversary will be marked with rallies on 26 and 27 July ,to be held in Welkom and Polokwane respectively, and other activities to be announced in due course. The SACP was founded as the Communist Party of South Africa on 29-31 July 1921.

In its agenda, the SACP PB will discuss:

The PB will also use the meeting to pay significant attention to the situation in Swaziland by holding a bilateral discussion with the People's United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) of Swaziland. The PUDEMO delegation will be led by PUDEMO President Mario Masuku , and will include:

Comrade Masuku was acquitted by the Swaziland High Court in August 2002 on charges of treason. The SACP regarded his acquittal as a blow against the undemocratic tinkhundla regime in Swaziland. Comrade Masuku was detained for 2 years and faced treason charges because he spoke at a PUDEMO rally in September 2000 (in Manzini) and November 2000 (Mbabane) calling for the democratisation of Swaziland.

The SACP PB will use the bilateral discussion with PUDEMO to appraise itself of recent developments in Swaziland and will also focus on how to strengthen solidarity activities in South Africa.
