The April monthly meeting of the the Political Bureau of the South African Communist Party (SACP), being held tomorrow (Friday, 25 April 2003), is on the eve of the 9th anniversary of South African Freedom Day and two days after the commemmoration of the death of the beloved leader of the ANC and the national liberation movement as a whole, Oliver Reginald Tambo.
The PB meeting also concludes the Chris Hani Memorial Month. In its agenda, the PB will therefore assess activities held during this month and prepare for other activities during the year as part of the SACP's theme of honouring and remembering communist martrys, heroes and heroines during 2003.
The PB will also pay significant attention to preparations for the Growth and Development Summit and May Day celebrations. In the light of the GDS, the PB will receive a report on progress in implementing the agreements of the NEDLAC-hosted Financial Sector Summit held in August 2002.
