The 11th edition of Umsebenzi Online will be available from the website of
the South African Communist Party
(SACP www.sacp.org.za/umsebenzi/online/)tomorrow, Wednesday, 02 April.
Umsebenzi Online is an exclusively electronic publication of the SACP published on the first and third Wednesday of every month.
The contents of this ninth edition of Umsebenzi Online are as follows:

The main (Red Alert) article in this edition announces the launch of the Chris Hani 10th Anniversary Memorial Month which will be launched on Friday, 04 April in Sabalele (Cofimvaba, Eastern Cape), Hani’s home village. Chris Martin Thembisile Hani is the late SACP General Secretary and ANC leader who was murdered on 10 April 1993. The article announces the Hani memorial programme for the month of April and introduces the Chris Hani Worker Leadership Development Institute.
The second article seeks to analyse the strategic implications of the US-led war in Iraq for Africa and South African in particular. The article concludes by reminding us that “a left critique of neo-liberalism and of the systemic features of global capitalism, enjoyed some support within the wider alliance in late 1997 and early 1998, at the height of the Asian “contagion” and Russian “melt-down”. However, when these “regionalised” crises abated, the very correct and progressive left positions were dropped off. We cannot allow this to happen once more.”.
The open letter from the CPUSA provides an alternative analysis of the Bush administration which liberal media cannot provide.
